April 2022 has seen an increase of 5.82% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.

IT jobs accounted for an 11.13% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 1.25% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 59.56% in April 2022, a 30.03% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 14.31% in April 2022, marking a 92.59% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.04% in April 2022, a 97.3% rise from March 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 94.76% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during April 2022 over previous month.

Shell posted 318 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered an increase of 186.49% over the previous month, followed by Koch Industries with 78 jobs and a 32.2% growth. Yara International with 58 IT jobs and BP with 43 jobs, recorded a 4.92% drop and a 138.89% rise, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a 27.78% increase with 23 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 67.26% share in April 2022, a 72.18% increase over March 2022. China featured next with a 6.88% share, down 20.63% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 6.74% share, a growth of 48.48% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.7%, up by 40% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 33.56% share, registered a growth of 76.81% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.46% share, up 51.61% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.28%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
