February 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 10.46% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.77% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 67.39% in February 2022, an 11.09% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 11.26% in February 2022, marking a 32.32% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9.41% in February 2022, a 5.66% rise from January 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Koch Industries posted 147 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 113.04% over the previous month, followed by Shell with 101 jobs and a 58.94% drop. Baker Hughes with 34 IT jobs and Yara International with 29 jobs, recorded a 30.61% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while John Wood Group recorded an 115.38% increase with 28 job postings during February 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 64.71% share in February 2022, a 21.91% decrease over January 2022. China featured next with a 9.92% share, up 47.5% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 5.71% share, a growth of 13.33% compared with January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.99%, down by 16.43% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.6% share, registered a decline of 10.9% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.41% share, up 12% over January 2022.
