The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 8.24% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs claimed a 9.95% share in the company’s total hiring activity in August 2022, and recorded a 0.03% decline over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Baker Hughes IT hiring in August 2022
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Baker Hughes, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 56.6% in August 2022, and a 36.17% drop over July 2022, while Computer Support Specialists claimed a share of 22.64% in August 2022, and registered a decline of 42.86%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.21% in August 2022, a 75% rise from July 2022.
Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Baker Hughes
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in August 2022 with a 37.74% share, which marked a 45.95% drop over the previous month.
North America stood next with 26.42%, registering a 39.13% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with an 18.87% share and a 9.09% drop over July 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 13.21% and a month-on-month decline of 12.5%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 3.77%, registering a flat growth over the previous month.
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 28.3% share in August 2022, a 53.13% decline over July 2022. US featured next with a 20.75% share, down 47.62% over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 7.55% share, a decline of 33.33% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level jobs lead Baker Hughes IT hiring activity in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.72%, down by 44.23% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 39.62% share, a decline of 8.7% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.66% share, down 50% over July 2022.
