
Canada’s oil & gas industry registered a 10.0% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 14.19% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.5% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.67% in August 2022, registering a 533.33% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 21.67% share, an increase of 8.33% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 20%, registering a 7.69% decline from July 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 16.67%, up 100% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 176.92% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Suncor Energy posted 13 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Canadian Natural Resources with 9 jobs and a 350% growth. TC Energy with 6 IT jobs and AltaGas with 6 jobs, recorded a 20% growth and a 200% growth, respectively, while Parkland recorded a decline of 50% with 2 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70%, up by 68% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.67% share, registered an increase of 116.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.33% share, down 28.57% over July 2022.
