China’s oil & gas industry registered a 2.4% rise in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.66% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.03% share in December 2021, recording an increase of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 105.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.9% in December 2021, registering a 6.67% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.65% share, a decrease of 10% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 15.69%, registering a flat growth from November 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 13.73%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Yara International posted 11 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Dow with 8 jobs and a 14.29% growth. Baker Hughes with 5 IT jobs and Exxon Mobil with 4 jobs, recorded a 25% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Albemarle recorded an increase of 100% with 4 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.78%, down by 6.06% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 35.29% share, registered an increase of 38.46% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.92% share, down 71.43% over November 2021.
