September 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.62% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.45% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 38.46% in September 2022, a 30.43% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 25.96% in September 2022, marking a 0.92% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 19.71% in September 2022, a 28.13% rise from August 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 15.66% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Hera posted 41 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 63.39% over the previous month, followed by Sika with 39 jobs and a 30% growth. Shell with 34 IT jobs and BASF with 27 jobs, recorded a 3.03% rise and a 22.73% rise, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a 2500% increase with 26 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 25% share in September 2022, a 0.97% increase over August 2022. Germany featured next with a 20.19% share, down 7.69% over the previous month. Italy recorded an 11.06% share, a drop of 61.98% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.52%, down by 18.85% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.87% share, registered a decline of 21.43% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.13% share, flat growth over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.48%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
