India’s oil & gas industry registered a 2.2% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 13.07% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 15.05% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 3.7% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.54% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.2% in August 2022, registering a 5.14% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.17% share, an increase of 13.85% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 12.99%, registering a 33.33% rise from July 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.3%, down 10.17% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 6.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Shell posted 142 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 0.71% over the previous month, followed by PI Industries with 88 jobs and an 11.39% growth. Reliance Industries with 44 IT jobs and Koch Industries with 26 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a 25.71% decrease, respectively, while Yara International recorded a decline of 7.14% with 26 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.86%, up by 10.73% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 38.05% share, registered a decline of 0.61% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 2.09% share, down 40% over July 2022.
