India’s oil & gas industry registered a 6.5% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.05% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.26% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.7% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 68.34% in September 2021, registering a 24.76% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.57% share, a decrease of 24.32% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 7.99%, registering a 42.11% rise from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.85%, down 45.83% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 41.92% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Royal Dutch Shell posted 46 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 24.59% over the previous month, followed by Reliance Industries with 46 jobs and a 68.28% drop. Baker Hughes Holdings with 42 IT jobs and PI Industries with 37 jobs, recorded a 33.33% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a decline of 17.86% with 23 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.1%, down by 23.11% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 34.62% share, registered a decline of 14.6% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.99% share, down 52.63% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.3%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
