
Malaysia’s oil & gas industry registered a 14.1% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.5% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 14.11% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 1.32% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Malaysia’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 102.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.52% in September 2021, registering a 47.06% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 14.29% share, a flat growth over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 11.9%, registering a 25% rise from August 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 11.9%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 181.82% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
BP posted 11 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 1000% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 11 jobs and a 266.67% growth. Evonik Industries with 4 IT jobs and Baker Hughes Holdings with 3 jobs, recorded a 33.33% decline and a 200% flat growth, respectively, while Petrofac recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.52%, up by 56.25% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.95% share, registered an increase of 116.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.52% share, up 300% over August 2021.
