
Malaysia’s oil & gas industry registered a 14.2% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.28% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.3% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 2.9% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Malaysia’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 102.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 81.25% in October 2021, registering a 50% growth over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 6.25% share, a decrease of 40% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 6.25%, registering a 50% decline from September 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.25%, down 40% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 53.57% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
BASF posted 21 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 90.91% over the previous month, followed by Royal Dutch Shell with 7 jobs and a 250% growth. PPG Industries with 6 IT jobs and BP with 5 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 54.55% decrease, respectively, while Evonik Industries recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.08%, up by 27.59% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.75% share, registered a decline of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.17% share, down 50% over September 2021.
