November 2021 has seen an increase of 0.54% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.04% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 45.45% in November 2021, a 47.37% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 27.27% in November 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.64% in November 2021, a 62.5% drop from October 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 9.09% in November 2021, a 33.33% decline over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 43.48% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during November 2021 over previous month.
Worley posted 3 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a decline of 40% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes with 3 jobs and a 66.67% drop. Saudi Kayan Petrochemical with 3 IT jobs and Sasol with 2 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while John Wood Group recorded a 66.67% decline with 2 job postings during November 2021.

Saudi Arabia commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 27.27% share in November 2021, a 45.45% decrease over October 2021. South Africa featured next with an 18.18% share, down 42.86% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 13.64% share, a drop of 25% compared with October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.09%, down by 40.91% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.27% share, registered a decline of 45.45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.64% share, down 50% over October 2021.
