Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 29.57% in October 2022, a 14.6% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 27.4% in October 2022, marking a 30.03% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 21.69% in October 2022, a 20.5% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 26.07% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s oil & gas industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Nutrien posted 71 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 1.39% over the previous month, followed by ShawCor with 68 jobs and an 119.35% growth. Koch Industries with 46 IT jobs and Air Products and Chemicals with 42 jobs, recorded a 74.3% drop and a 10.53% rise, respectively, while Halliburton recorded a 6.9% increase with 31 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s oil & gas industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with an 88.24% share in October 2022, a 22.31% decrease over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 9.82% share, up 1.18% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.94% share, a growth of 6.25% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.13%, down by 21.34% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.8% share, registered a decline of 3.42% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.73% share, down 39.74% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.34%, recording a month-on-month growth of 50%.
