UK-based company Shell’s IT hiring declined 5.0% in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 8.18% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs claimed a 20.85% share in the company’s total hiring activity in August 2022, and recorded a 0.89% decline over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Shell IT hiring in August 2022
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Shell, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 53.03% in August 2022, and a 1.87% drop over July 2022, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 20.71% in August 2022, and registered flat growth. Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 10.1% in August 2022, an 11.11% rise from July 2022.
Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Shell
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in August 2022 with an 81.82% share, which marked a 0.61% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 15.66%, registering a 24.39% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with a 2.53% share and a flat growth over July 2022.
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 71.72% share in August 2022, a 0.71% growth over July 2022. The UK featured next with a 13.13% share, down 10.34% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 4.04% share, an increase of 60% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level jobs lead Shell IT hiring activity in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.08%, up by 0.88% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 40.91% share, a decline of 14.74% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 1.01% share, flat growth over July 2022.
