September 2021 has seen an increase of 1.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 13.57% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 1.2% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 59.15% in September 2021, a 13.4% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.49% in September 2021, marking a 46.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 11.97% in September 2021, a 19.05% drop from August 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 7.75% in September 2021, a 22.22% rise over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 5.15% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Exxon Mobil posted 115 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 8% over the previous month, followed by World Fuel Services with 6 jobs and a 500% growth. Baker Hughes Holdings with 3 IT jobs and Chevron with 3 jobs, recorded a 40% drop and a 200% rise, respectively, while Halliburton recorded a 50% decline with 2 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 57.04% share in September 2021, an 8.99% decrease over August 2021. Argentina featured next with a 31.69% share, flat growth over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 3.52% share, a growth of 400% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 84.51%, down by 7.69% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with an 8.45% share, registered a growth of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.04% share, down 9.09% over August 2021.
