Block 1 Conventional Oil Field, South Sudan

Block 1 is a producing conventional oil field located onshore South Sudan and is operated by Greater Pioneer Operating. The field is located in block Block 1.

The field is owned by China National Petroleum, Petroliam Nasional, Nile Petroleum and Oil and Natural Gas.


Production from Block 1

The Block 1 conventional oil field recovered 29.33% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2011. The peak production was approximately 56.53 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2042. The field currently accounts for approximately 33% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 192.57 Mmboe, comprised of 192.57 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Block 1 conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.04% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
