The midstream segment contracts in Africa registered an increase of 200% with six contracts in August 2021, when compared with the previous month’s total of two contracts, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.
A total of six contracts were registered in the midstream segment of Africa during the month, when compared with the last 12-month moving average of five contracts.
In terms of the number of contracts in Africa, the upstream segment contributed the most with 19 contracts in August 2021, followed by midstream and downstream segments with six and four contracts, respectively.

In August 2021, Kenya led the activity with two contracts and a 33% share of the midstream oil and gas contracts in Africa.
Based on 12-month moving average of the contracts in the midstream segment of Africa, Algeria, Egypt and Mozambique took the top spot with one contract each.

During the month, the majority of midstream segment contracts awarded in the Africa were in the operations & maintenance with three contracts, followed by procurement with two contracts.
