Mississippi witnessed a decrease of 5.3% in total oil and gas production to 1,32,068.31 boe/d in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.
The oil and gas production grew 5.34% in January 2022 from 1,25,375.52 boe/d in January 2021. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2022 increased by 5.34% from the same period in 2021.
In January 2022, oil production declined 1.63% to 35,572.42 bd as against the previous month, while gas production declined by 6.59% to 559.68 mmcf/d.
On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 4.68% in 2022 when compared with the same period in 2021, while gas production rose by 9.59%. Out of the total oil and gas production in January 2022, oil held a 26.93% share, while gas had a 73.06% share.
In Mississippi, Denbury Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 99,645.36 boe/d in January 2022 from the previous month. The company held a 42.58% share in oil production and 87.57% share in gas production in January 2022.
On a YTD basis, the company registered an 8.65% increase in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2021.
Compared with other counties in Mississippi, Rankin county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 52.72% share in January 2022. The county witnessed in production to 69,632.48 boe/d in January 2022 when compared with the previous month.
On a YTD basis, Rankin registered an increase of 47.41% in total production from the same period in 2021.
