North West Shelf Venture is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Australia and is operated by Woodside Energy Group. Two expansion projects are associated with the North West Shelf Venture conventional gas field, namely the South Goodwin and the NWS growth opportunities. The expansion projects are currently in the feasibility stage, targeting start-up during 2025 – 2026.

Production from North West Shelf Venture
The North West Shelf Venture conventional gas field recovered 86.79% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2010. The peak production was approximately 156.95 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 445.00 Mmcfd of natural gas, 30.74 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids and 2,052 Mmcfd of liquid natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2042. The field currently accounts for approximately 19% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 802.79 Mmboe, comprised of 76.10 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 525.98 bcf of natural gas reserves, 3,807.96 bcf of liquid natural gas reserves and 4.37 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. North West Shelf Venture conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.27% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
