Two expansion projects are associated with the Snøhvit conventional gas field, namely the Snøhvit Future Phase 2 and the Askeladd Vest. The expansion projects are currently in the construction stage, targeting start-up during 2024 – 2030.

Field participation details

The field is owned by BASF, Equinor, LetterOne Holdings, Neptune Energy Group, Petoro and TotalEnergies.

Production from Snøhvit

The Snøhvit conventional gas field recovered 29.08% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2025. The peak production will approximately 14.60 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 366.00 Mmcfd of natural gas, 9.59 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids and 600 Mmcfd of liquid natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2064. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 1,269.80 Mmboe, comprised of 83.01 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 1,768.35 bcf of natural gas reserves, 4,975.45 bcf of liquid natural gas reserves and 62.82 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Snøhvit conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.43% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
