Contracts in the pipeline segment in the oil and gas industry registered an increase in activity by 26% in May 2022 with a total of 24 contracts, when compared with the previous month’s total of 19 contracts, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.
A total of 24 contracts were recorded in the pipeline sector globally during the month, when compared with the last 12-month moving average of 33 contracts.
In May 2022, the majority of contracts in the pipeline segment were in the onshore pipeline sub-segment with 20 contracts and an 80% share. Offshore pipeline sub-segment witnessed five contracts, during the month.

Europe held the top position with seven contracts and a 29% share during May 2022, followed by Asia-Pacific and South America with five contracts (21%) and four contracts (17%), respectively.

During the month, the majority of contracts in the pipeline segment were awarded in the procurement with 15 contracts, followed by operations & maintenance and design & engineering with six and five contracts, respectively.
