Raton Shale witnessed an increase of 1.53% in total oil and gas production to 59,273.6 boe/d in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production in Raton declined 2.01% in February 2022 from 60,487.12 boe/d in February 2021. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play decreased by 4% from the same period in 2021.

In Raton, gas production increased by 1.53% to 343.79 mmcf/d in February 2022 as compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, gas production declined by 4% in 2022 when compared with the same period in 2021. Out of the total oil and gas production in February 2022,, while gas had a 100% share.


In Raton, Occidental Petroleum emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 32,094.91 boe/d in February 2022, an increase of 4.57% from the previous month. The company held a 54.15% share in gas production in February 2022.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 2.46% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2021.



Compared with other counties within Raton Shale, Las Animas county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 32.59% share in February 2022. The county witnessed a 1.85% decrease in production to 19,317.94 boe/d in February 2022 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, it registered a decline of 4.77% in total production from the same period in 2021.
