Sonam Conventional Gas Field, Nigeria

Sonam is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Nigeria and is operated by Chevron Nigeria. The field is located in block OML 91, with water depth of 150 feet.

The field is owned by Nigerian National Petroleum and Chevron.


Production from Sonam

The Sonam conventional gas field recovered 23.86% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2020. The peak production was approximately 30.23 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 247 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2077. The field currently accounts for approximately 2% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 322.04 Mmboe, comprised of 136.24 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 1,114.79 bcf of natural gas reserves. Sonam conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.11% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
