Tuscaloosa Marine Shale witnessed a decrease of 9.57% in total oil and gas production to 34,200.73 boe/d in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production in Tuscaloosa Marine declined 20.77% in January 2022 from 43,167.78 boe/d in January 2021. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play decreased by 20.77% from the same period in 2021.

In Tuscaloosa Marine, oil production declined 4.63% in January 2022 as compared with the previous month, while gas production decreased by 11.62% to 136.84 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production in the play decreased by 10.9% in 2022 when compared with the same period in 2021, while gas production declined by 24.53%. Out of the total oil and gas production in January 2022, oil held a 31.02% share, while gas had a 68.98% share.


In Tuscaloosa Marine, W & T Offshore emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 18,172.31 boe/d in January 2022 from the previous month. The company held a 0.18% share in oil production and 76.94% share in gas production in January 2022.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 14.35% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2021.



Compared with other counties within Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, Baldwin county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 35.48% share in January 2022. The county witnessed in production to 12,135.8 boe/d in January 2022 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, it registered a decline of 8.49% in total production from the same period in 2021.
