Utica Shale witnessed a decrease of 6.34% in total oil and gas production to 6,61,931.42 boe/d in July 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The total oil and gas production in Utica declined by 25.26% in July 2021 over the 12-month period from 8,85,589.6 boe/d in July 2020. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play decreased by 25.37% from the same period in 2020.

In Utica oil production declined by 15.41% in July 2021 as compared with the previous month, while gas production decreased by 5.93% to 3,689.08 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production in the play decreased by 38.57% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production declined by 24.65%. Out of the total oil and gas production in July 2021, oil held a 3.88% share, while gas had a 96.09% share.

In Utica, Ascent Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 1,85,485.8 boe/d in July 2021, a decrease of 9.5% from the previous month. The company held a 33.26% share in oil production and 27.82% share in gas production in July 2021.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 39.8% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2020.

 


 

Compared with other counties within Utica Shale, Belmont county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 30.75% share in July 2021. The county witnessed a 4.28% decrease in production to 2,03,538.37 boe/d in July 2021 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, it registered a decline of 37.03% in total production from the same period in 2020.
