UK-based Neptune Energy has started production from its Rӧmerberg 6 well in the city of Speyer, southwestern Germany.

As per the initial production tests, the well showed flow rates of up to 1,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).

Neptune Energy operates the Römerberg field, which was discovered in 2003, with a 50% stake while Palatina GeoCon owns the remaining 50% stake.

The Römerberg 6 well represents the ninth production well in the Römerberg oil field, located in the Rhine Valley, south-western Germany. The field started production in 2008.

The well is expected to increase the company’s production capacity in the Rhine Valley to approximately 3,700boepd.

In addition, the firm anticipates that the Rӧmerberg 6 well production will to allow it to mature the Römerberg full-field development plans.

Neptune Energy Germany managing director Andreas Scheck said: “The Römerberg 6 well makes a significant contribution to Neptune’s production in the country and is an important milestone in the field’s development.

“We are committed to further developing the Römerberg oil field and to increasing production capacity over the coming years.”
