Pieridae Energy (Canada) has awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to CB&I for its proposed Goldboro LNG export facility in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia.
The contract requires CB&I to design and engineer two LNG liquefaction trains and associated facilities for the engineering, procurement, and construction phase of the project.
The facility will be established at the Goldboro Industrial Park in Guysborough County on the east coast of Canada. Upon completion, the Goldboro facility is expected to produce around 10 million tonnes of LNG a year and have 690,000m³ of LNG in on-site storage capacity.
The FEED phase of the project will identify the layout of the facility and associated components, as well capital expenditures, which are currently expected at $8.3bn.
CB&I engineering, construction and maintenance operating group president Patrick Mullen said: "We look forward to working with Pieridae on the Goldboro LNG project, which upon completion will serve as North America’s closest mainland LNG export terminal to Europe and India."
Pieridae Energy is in advanced negotiations with various natural gas producers, pipeline operators and LNG customers. The company has already signed a 20-year sales agreement with E.ON Global Commodities for supplying around five million tonnes of LNG a year.
