Acteon Group subsidiary 2H Offshore has been appointed by Dubai Petroleum (DP) to deliver an intensive, fast-track design of a tripod platform for installation off Dubai, UAE.
According to Acteon, 2H Offshore has installed the ultra-lightweight conductor-supported tripod platform, known as T-02, in the Fateh field, offshore Dubai in a water depth of 50m.
The platform, which is said to comprise a minimal topside and subsea structure, hosts an exploration well during an upcoming drilling and well test campaign.
In order to facilitate the exploration well for DP, Acteon's subsidiary investigated a wide range of development options as part of the T-02 platform project.
The investigation has been carried out prior to proving the conductor-supported tripod as an economical and technically feasible solution.
Designed for installation from a jack-up drilling rig, the tripod enables drilling to commence directly after installation.
While liaising with DP on the access platform and other structural details, 2H Offshore took detailed design as the lead and undertook the structural design of the subsea template, conductors and topside brace structure.
2H lead engineer Graham Nicholson said: "We carefully assessed the client's design brief and developed a solution that considered the in-service functional requirements as well as the installation constraints.
"With the combined knowledge and experience of the DP and 2H teams, we were able to deliver an efficient design in-line with the client's demanding fabrication and installation programme."
Discovered in 1966, the Fateh oil field, also known as the Fath oil field, is an area of offshore oil production around 60 miles from Dubai and within the country's share of the Persian Gulf.
