Accenture, in collaboration with SAP, has introduced a new technology platform designed for medium and small-sized independent oil and gas firms in North America.
The platform, dubbed Upstream Solution for Independents, uses the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
The solution offers an organised, single view of production operations, financial accounting and reporting.
Accenture said the solution will help improve business decision-making by providing insights into costs and revenues, which makes revenue accounting more manageable for firms operating in the unconventional shale oil and gas market.
Accenture energy industry group global managing director Andrew Smart said: "This highly scalable and fit-for-purpose solution will use standardised and integrated business processes and technologies to enable both growth and cost discipline by independent upstream operators.
"This industry solution, combined with a methodology for rapid, predictable and reliable deployment, is designed to replace aging legacy systems that are struggling to keep up with the pace of growth and to have our clients up and running in less than nine months."
