GDF SUEZ has awarded a contract to Senergy’s Survey & GeoEngineering (Senergy S&G) group for its major Cygnus gas project.
Under the contract terms signed, Senergy S&G will support GDF SUEZ by providing vital onshore survey quality assurance and quality control, as well as positioning management services, for the forthcoming offshore construction phases of the Cygnus project.
The work, which will be undertaken throughout 2014 and 2015, also includes providing offshore survey representatives for the load out and installation of the Alpha and Bravo platforms, subsea structures, lay, trench, backfill and rock-dumping of the export pipeline, infield pipeline and control umbilicals, spool metrology and tie-ins.
Senergy S&G’s innovative web-based GIS (geographic information systems) and IRIS (project information system) will also be deployed for the contract operations.
The application enables project teams to track real-time vessel locations, as well as access key project status information and as-built survey and video data, all through an internet browser.
In addition, Senergy S&G will provide the developer with oversight of the trenching and backfill systems and operations for the pipeline assets.
Senergy S&G survey and positioning manager Martin Day said: "We look forward to building on our work with GDF SUEZ on the Cygnus project, extending our survey services into the construction phase of this major field development within UKCS.
"The contract is an excellent opportunity to further demonstrate our capabilities in construction survey, positioning and trenching assurance.
"We are particularly pleased to deploy and demonstrate the full power of our IRIS system, which will provide close visibility to the real-time progress and status to GDF SUEZ throughout the project."
Previously, Senergy S&G worked on the project located on the southern North Sea (Blocks 44/11 and 44/12, license number P1055) by providing survey project management and geosciences engineering consultancy services.
