Mermaid Subsea Services (MSSQ) has secured a subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services contract in the Gulf of Thailand.

The company will provide services relating to structure and sea line inspection, free span correction, and corrosion prevention.

Estimated to be worth $10m, the contract will start this month and run until March 2018, and can be extended for one more year.

As part of the work, the DP2 ROV Support Vessel ‘Mermaid Sapphire’ will be used along with a deepwater work-class ROV plus associated equipment.

Separately, Mermaid has been selected to provide additional subsea cable installation and related diving services to a global cable manufacturing, installation and commissioning company.

The $10m contract will begin in April and is scheduled for completion within three months.

Chartered-in DP2 construction barge ‘Mubarak Supporter’ will perform the operations along with other specialised vessels and associated equipment.

The company established a new cable lay division in 2013 as part of its initiative to expand its service offering to customers in the Middle East.

Mermaid has completed a number of previous cable lay projects.
