Brazilian oil company Petrobras has suspended production after its P-48 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) platform caught fire.
Reported by the Sindipetro-NF workers union, Petrobras said that the fire began in Module 4 of the FPSO and was brought under control.

Following the incident, no fatalities were reported.
Operational since February 2005, the P-48 FPSO is located in the Barracuda-Caratinga fields in the Campos basin, and began operations.
According to Reuters, calculations based on data from Brazil’s oil regulator ANP, the FPSO produced an average of 48,309 barrels of oil per day (bpd) in the 12 months ending on 31 January.
The fields in water depths of 785m in Barracuda and 1,035m in Caratinga lie 160km east of Macae in block BC-50B, offshore Brazil. They cover a combined area of 230km².

The Sindipetro-NF workers union is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Last June, the company ceased production from its P-40 semisubmersible production platform in Marlim Sul field after it found a gas leak on the vessel.
The P-40 was producing about 45,915 barrels of oil and 800,000m³ of natural gas a day when it was shut down.
