UK-based energy services company Wood Group has secured two new contracts worth $140m with an international oil company in Iraq.
Under the three-year contracts, Wood Group PSN (WGPSN), a division of Wood Group, will provide brownfield front-end engineering design, detailed engineering and commissioning support for operations and start-up on an onshore asset in southern Iraq.
Other services include project management, procurement and system completion.
The new contracts are expected to create more than 100 new jobs and will begin with immediate effect.
WGPSN will deliver the contracts from southern Iraq and Dubai, where the company established an office in 2015.
WGPSN eastern region managing director David Buchan said: "These two significant contract wins demonstrate Wood Group’s commitment to working closely with key clients to extend our operations in Iraq, where we see a growth market that complements our broad service capabilities, international knowledge and strong expertise.
"Establishing an office in Dubai and a base in Iraq reflects our intention to build lasting customer relationships and focus on the development of our Iraqi workforce and supply chain partnerships."
Recently, Wood Group secured a three-year contract to support Shell’s eight UKCS offshore assets, which include the Shearwater, Gannet, Nelson, Curlew, Brent Delta, Brent Alpha, Brent Bravo and Brent Charlie installations.
