Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) has signed a natural gas supply contract with Companhia de Gás de Pernambuco (Copergás).

The natural gas purchase and sale contract, which is effective as of January 2024 until December 2034, has an estimated value of 6.7bn reais ($1.6bn).

The contract follows the public call initiated by Copergás to supply natural gas to meet the regulated market in Pernambuco.

In a press statement, Petrobras said: “The new contract reinforces the commercial partnership between the companies, maintaining security and reliability in competitive commercial conditions in a scenario of market opening and diversification of natural gas supply.”

Recently, Petrobras selected developer Nauticus Robotics to deploy its Aquanaut autonomous subsea robot to support offshore operations.

The fully electric Aquanaut features an array of multi-spectral perception sensors to help the robot to detect, classify, inspect, and act upon subsea infrastructure using its pair of manipulators.
