Petrofac’s Engineering and Production Services (EPS) East unit has received a contract to provide support and engineering services to Husky Oil China’s Liuhua 29-1 Gas Field Development Project at offshore Pearl River Mouth Basin in the South China Sea.

Sanctioned last year, the Liuhua 29-1 field is part of the Liwan Gas Project located around 300km south-east of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Under the three-year contract, Petrofac’s specialist personnel are set to support the Liuhua 29-1 project during execution and until pre-commissioning. They will also assist with commissioning and start-up operations.

For the duration of the project’s execution, Petrofac’s crew will join Husky’s project team at Shekou, China, and in the main contractors’ offices.

Petrofac will also supply subsea equipment, umbilicals and flexible, and is responsible for overall engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI).

Husky expects the first production from the Liuhua 29-1 field in 2021.

In addition to this field, the Liwan Gas Project comprises Liwan 3-1 and Liuhua 34-2 fields that share subsea production system and pipeline transportation, as well as onshore gas processing infrastructure.
