Senex Energy has secured approval for the development of the Western Surat Gas Project in Queensland, Australia, under the Commonwealth Government Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC).
The company previously obtained state environmental approvals and a petroleum lease for the project.
With the latest approval, Senex now has all the primary approvals in place to start the Western Surat Gas Project development.
As part of the project, the company will initially focus on the Glenora and Eos blocks.
Before taking a final investment decision for the project, Senex continues to progress the remaining financial, commercial and contracting requirements.

Located in Queensland’s Surat Basin, the Western Surat Gas Project is one of two major gas development projects progressed by the company to deliver new gas volumes into the east coast market.
The project involves the delivery of coal seam gas from an area spanning about 915km² of Senex permits, north of Roma.
Senex announced that it had entered agreements with GLNG in September 2015 for the development of the project.
In December 2015, the sale transaction was completed with GLNG.
