TGS and Geophysical Technology (GTI) have entered into a four-year strategic collaboration intended to deliver integrated seismic acquisition solutions across shallow water, transition zone, and deepwater environments.

Both companies will evaluate and jointly pursue seismic acquisition projects globally on a case-by-case basis.

Under the collaboration, TGS will contribute its deepwater acquisition resources, such as deepwater vessels and ocean bottom node (OBN) assets, along with its global supply chain, project management, and financial resources.

GTI will provide its proprietary NuSeis nodal recording technology and manufacturing capacity, as well as its specialised vessels, recording assets, and experience in land, transition-zone and shallow-water operations.

The company is active in the Americas, Middle East, and Africa, and will bring its established regional presence to the partnership.

TGS said the agreement aims to address growing demand from energy firms for higher operational efficiency as offshore projects increase in complexity.

By integrating TGS’s capabilities with GTI’s technology and market presence, the two groups intend to deliver joint seismic solutions tailored to a range of marine and transitional environments.

TGS marine data acquisition executive vice president Carel Hooijkaas said: “This collaboration allows us to offer clients a truly integrated seismic solution, from the shoreline to the deepwater, without compromising on quality or efficiency.

“GTI’s shallow-water and transition-zone capabilities are highly complementary to our deepwater strengths, and we see significant opportunity to combine our respective expertise on projects around the world.”

TGS provides data and intelligence services for the energy sector, with technology and data offerings across the industry’s value chain.

GTI develops nodal seismic data recording systems and offers acquisition services for industries including energy, mining, geothermal, and engineering.

GTI president and CEO Richard Degner said: “Partnering with TGS gives our clients access to world-class deepwater capabilities alongside GTI’s proven shallow-water and land acquisition expertise. Together, we’re positioned to pursue integrated projects that neither company could deliver as effectively on its own.”

Prior to this, TGS signed an agreement with Ghana’s Petroleum Commission to deliver a new offshore 2D-cubed seismic project in the Keta Basin off the Ghanaian coast.
