Midstream energy company Pinnacle Midstream II has made a final investment decision (FID) for a Train II natural gas processing and nitrogen rejection facility at the Dos Picos System and Processing Complex in Texas, US.

Due to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2024, Train II is expected to add 220 million cubic feet per day (mcfd) of processing capacity. This will increase the company’s total operated processing capacity to more than 440mcfd in the Midland Basin.

Pinnacle founder and CEO J Greg Sargent said: “Expanding the Dos Picos capacity by 220mcfd ensures we can provide the best service to our current and future customers, maximise their recoveries and help limit flaring across the basin.”

The company expects Train II to complement its existing processing capabilities and high-pressure, large-diameter gathering and compression infrastructure that was commissioned in Q1 2021.

Pinnacle chief commercial officer Drew Ward said: “The extremely productive acreage being developed by our customers, as well as Dos Picos’ strategic Midland Basin location, ensure that we can provide the safest, most economical and efficient options for our customers for many years to come.”

To accommodate anticipated future volumes, Pinnacle is planning to expand its strategically located gathering and compression infrastructure throughout Midland, Martin and Glasscock counties.

Backed by Texas-based infrastructure company Energy Spectrum Capital, Pinnacle Midstream II provides high-quality natural gas services.
