Sapura Energy and its subsidiaries have secured two contracts in Thailand with a combined value in excess of RM500m ($118.5m).

The contracts were awarded to Sapura’s wholly owned subsidiary, Sapura Energy (Thailand), and encompass an installation and removal campaign, as well as subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services.

The contract for installation and removal was awarded by Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production and Chevron Offshore (Thailand). It is scheduled for completion by the end of next year.

This campaign will be carried out by the company’s engineering and construction team.

Sapura has experience in delivering decommissioning projects in Thailand, including a 'rig-to-reef' campaign in 2020. It is also reputed to be the first company to deploy the reverse S-lay method in pipeline decommissioning in Asia.

Additionally, PTT Exploration and Production has awarded a contract for subsea IRM services.

Under the contract, saturation diving operations for the G1/61 and G2/61 projects will be conducted by Sapura’s operations and maintenance business segment.

It will utilise the Sapura Constructor, Sapura’s dedicated subsea construction vessel, which can house 120 personnel and provide diving support facilities for up to 15 divers.

The subsea IRM works began in the second quarter of this year. Sapura is also currently undertaking subsea IRM works for PTTEP in Malaysia.

Sapura Group CEO Muhammad Zamri Jusoh said: “These awards build upon SEB’s long-standing partnership with clients in Thailand, given the Group’s proven track record for similar offshore campaigns in the kingdom.

“It also demonstrates our strategy of bidding for projects that are aligned to the group’s risk appetite, core capabilities and vessel deployment efficiency.”

In February, Sapura's drilling division, Sapura Drilling, obtained several contracts worth around RM3.2bn for tender assist drilling rig services.

The contracts were awarded by PTTEP Energy Development, Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, ExxonMobil and EnQuest.
