Sibur is in talks with the Iranian National Petrochemical Company (NPC) for the construction of petrochemical plants in Iran.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said it is possible to develop major complexes in the oil and gas chemical industry in Iran.
For the development, it is necessary to involve the blocks of the Southern Pars gas field, which Gazprom is developing, Shmatko added.
According to Sibur, in a joint venture with NPC, the company could build a petrochemical plant producing bulk polyolefin on the base of a phase of the Southern Pars gas field.
The Russian company also has plans to export the facility’s produce.
