The Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company has begun production at the LNG Train 7 in Qatar.
Ras Laffan 3 LNG train is a 7.8 million tonnes per year plant opened by the 70:30 joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil Ras Laffan (3), and is the seventh such plant by the joint venture in the last year.
The new train matches the capacity of Ras Laffan 3 Train 6, one of the largest operating LNG production facilities, which came online in October 2009.
Qatar’s North Field, which is estimated to contain over 900 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, will supply both trains.
Ras Laffan 3 forms part of a value-chain investment that includes facilities associated with natural gas production and liquefaction in Qatar.
