Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Oando, African Petroleum and Mittal are planning to build two new oil refineries and a gas refinery in Nigeria.
The crude oil refineries will be located in the South West and the Niger Delta, according to Business Day.
The natural gas refinery, situated in the North Central Zone, would leverage the proposed Abuja-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline and produce derivatives such as fertilisers and petrochemicals.
Provision of the captive power and water requirements is expected to be outsourced to third parties.
Each of the refineries will form the nucleus of a hydrocarbon industrial park to produce petrochemicals, according to Business Day.
