Flaring has been reported by operator ExxonMobil at its Torrance refinery in California, USA, which is currently undergoing maintenance.
The firm began the multi-unit overhaul of the 150,000bpd site on 5 March 2010 including a turnaround of its 100,000bpd petrol-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit, according to Reuters.
The refinery’s crude supply comes primarily from the San Joaquin Valley in central California.
Petrol from the refinery is sold in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada, along with other products such as jet fuel, diesel fuel, liquefied petroleum gases, coke and sulphur.
