Jotron AS is a leading manufacturer of professional communication systems for land, sea and air safety. The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award was created by EY (Ernst & Young) to recognise the significant accomplishments of entrepreneurs around the world.

After competing with 1,800 Norwegian companies, Jotron and 11 other companies made it to the national finals in Oslo. Merete Berdal won the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award under the industry category.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award recognises the significant accomplishments of national entrepreneurs. This is the world’s largest entrepreneur programme, recognising and celebrating company growth accomplishments of the world’s most game-changing entrepreneurs. National winners from more than 60 countries will meet at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year forum in Monaco next year.

"It is important to cultivate entrepreneurs among us, this is precisely the main objective of EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year," says Terje Andersen, responsible for the programme in Norway.

To be eligible to participate, a company should meet the 3×20 rule: At least 20 million in revenue, 20 employees and 20% growth over the past two years.

Merete values a high level of professional expertise, she places importance on encouraging and retaining such expertise locally.

Merete is a graduate from Telemark University College, Norway, within the field of electronics. Merete Berdal has been employed at Jotron since 1986 and has held various positions within management and logistics.
