Local waste management company CIC Environmental Services Sdn Bhd (CIC) signed an agreement with a Norwegian technology firm Thermtech AS for the supply of environmental treatment equipment for use in the local oil and gas industry.

In a statement issued over the weekend, CIC said Thermtech will provide thermomechanical cuttings cleaner to CIC. This equipment will be used to separate drilling waste components to recover base oil, wastewater and cleaned solids. The equipment will enable CIC to provide ‘advanced thermal treatment services for a variety of oil wastes and thus contribute to a cleaner world’.

The agreement was signed 14 January by CIC executive chairman Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Razak Muhammad and Thermtech’s vice-president of sales and business development Paul Handgraaf.

CIC said it is developing an effluent water treatment system called DECORE. This treatment uses electrolytic processes to break down and separate contaminants from wastewater and produce industrial grade water that can be discharged back to the sewage.

Thermtech AS and CIC plan to collaborate and integrate both technologies to market them in South East Asia.
