Dutch-based SAS Gouda has launched a subsidiary in Houston, Texas, to expand its operations in North America, increasing its worldwide network. SAS chose Houston because its client list in the Gulf of Mexico continues to grow, and the company is particularly interested in improving its relationships with the major operators in the area.

SAS was established in 1896 and is a privately owned company specialising in the design and manufacture of reliable deck equipment for the offshore oil and gas market. Over the years SAS has gained extensive experience in pipe lay systems, winch systems and heavy lift and handling systems.

SAS US will supply clients in the offshore oil and gas industry with specialised pipelay systems and custom winches for floating vessels.

Jim Allen has been appointed as sales director, North America, and will be responsible for developing the existing client base. Jim has more than 35 years of experience in the offshore petroleum industry and a vast knowledge of the US Gulf market and its customers.
