Globe Bulk Services (GBS) is working with Western Australian Oil and Gas, after undertaking a successful journey transporting equipment.
GBS was appointed by the company to mobilise specialist oil and gas exploration equipment. The proposed voyage involved taking the equipment from Labuan in Malaysia to Western Australia, to be used in the country’s oil and gas industry.
Australia’s geographic isolation means the country depends on imported equipment to supplement the current demand in production, which is expected to rise 20% by 2020.
Chartering was the only option for GBS due to the restricted time frame and incompatible transit routes.
A Netherlands registered bulk carrier was chartered due to its suitability, and all objectives were completed on time and within the budget.
