The top five companies accounted for 22% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that BASF filed the most 3D printing patents within the oil & gas industry in Q2 2023. The company filed 23 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 21 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Solvay with 14 3D printing patent filings, RAG-Stiftung (11 filings), and Xerox (9 filings) in Q2 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 27% share of total patent filings
