The value marked a decrease of 50.8% over the previous quarter and a drop of 29.5% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $6.99bn.
The United States held a 74.4% share of the global oil & gas industry private equity deal value that totalled $6.63bn in Q4 2018.
In terms of deal activity, the United States recorded 32 deals during Q4 2018, marking a rise of 3.2% over the previous quarter and a rise of 10.3% over the last four-quarter average.

The top five oil & gas industry private equity deals accounted for 85.5% of the overall value during Q4 2018.
The combined value of the top five oil & gas industry private equity deals stood at $4.22bn, against the overall value of $4.93bn recorded for the quarter. The top announced oil & gas industry private equity deal tracked by GlobalData in Q4 2018 was First Reserve’s $1.5bn private equity deal with Blue Racer Midstream.
In second place was the $1.12bn private equity deal with TransMontaigne Partners by ArcLight Energy Partners Fund VI and in third place was Blackstone Energy Partners’ $700m private equity deal with Ulterra Drilling Technologies.
The $500m private equity deal with EagleClaw Midstream Ventures by I Squared Capital and EnCap Investments’ private equity deal with Flat Creek Resources for $400m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
