US-based company Baker Hughes IT hiring declined 11.7% in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 8.63% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 10.11% share in the company’s total hiring activity in October 2022, and recorded a 0.31% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Baker Hughes IT hiring in October 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Baker Hughes, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 63.75% in October 2022, and a 13.33% rise over September 2022, while Computer Support Specialists claimed a share of 12.5% in October 2022, and registered a decline of 28.57%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.25% in October 2022, a 12.5% rise from September 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Baker Hughes

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in October 2022 with a 56.25% share, which marked a 2.17% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 23.75%, registering a 5.56% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with an 11.25% share and a 10% drop over September 2022.

In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 7.5% and a month-on-month increase of 50%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.25%, registering a flat growth over the previous month.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 46.25% share in October 2022, a 9.76% decline over September 2022. US featured next with a 16.25% share, up 8.33% over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 6.25% share, an increase of 150% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead Baker Hughes IT hiring activity in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.5%, up by 16% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.25% share, a decline of 16% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 1.25% share, down 75% over September 2022.
