Brazil’s oil & gas industry registered an 18.8% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.68% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.12% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 1.78% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Brazil’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 39.88% in October 2022, registering an 11.29% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 31.79% share, a decrease of 12.7% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 17.34%, registering a 16.67% decline from September 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 8.09%, down 12.5% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Brazil’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 5.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Ecopetrol posted 156 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 10.34% over the previous month, followed by Worley with 4 jobs and a 300% growth. TechnipFMC with 3 IT jobs and UPL with 3 jobs, recorded a 50% growth and a 200% growth, respectively, while Corteva recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.88%, down by 8.9% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 10.98% share, registered a decline of 47.22% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 7.51% share, down 13.33% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 4.62%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
